Decoder Commander®

Decoder Commander is a simple software programming tool for programming decoders. Engine Commander allows you basic programming capabilities for decoder programming.   Engine Commander allows you to read and write CV’s, program decoder address and speed curve.  Decoder Commander allows you much more operations.  Decoder Commander was designed to be simple, yet advance. If you are looking for advance DCC programming decoder tool, yet  a simple to use, then you need to look at Decoder Commander.

Decoder Commander is a simple software programming tool for programming decoders. Decoder Commander has a simple to use graphical interface makes programming decoders easy and fun,. Decoder Commander.  Decoder Commander uses KAM’s distributed XML communications protocol.   KAM’s client server protocol is a third generation client-server protocol that KAM has been using since the late 90’s to operate and control model railroads.  KAM’s xml protocol allows client applications to read decoder states from the model railroad and program those decoders over a network.

Decoder Commander is a simple to use but a serious DCC software programmer that allows you to do everything that Engine Commander does plus configure advance decoder functions, clone decoders, customize speed curves, configure advance function mapping and create customize decoder from our DCC Commander database.  Decoder Commander allows you full access to the manufacture specific decoder information so you may customize the decoder as you see fit.

Decoder Commander is an application that runs on your desktop or laptop PC. The desktop or laptop PC is connected to a layout using a command station interface. Train Server interfaces to the model train control systems using a hardware interface.  The interface is usually a serial interface or USB device. Decoder Commander reads manufacturers specifications from the DCC Commander SQL database and uses this information to program the decoder on the model train layout.  

Decoder Commander and Train Tools software are written using Microsoft’s latest software development tools.  Users can extend the functionality of all of KAM's software products using Microsoft Visual programming Tools.  Microsoft Visual Express software,  including C#, C++, and Visual Basic .NET. are shipped with Train Tools, including KAM's  software development kit.  (read more about KAM Visual Studio Tutorial...)   KAM software supports Microsoft current operating systems: Win CE (PC2002-03, Mobile 5.x), Win 200x, Windows XP, Vista 32/64 and .NET servers.
